English Department started its journey along with the birth of the college. But its courses were limited to the ones as per the syllabus for the Intermediate and Degree levels. In 1922 Honours courses were introduced into this department. But after the separation of India in 1947 the Honours courses were stopped due to lack of teachers and students. In 1961 three –year Honours courses resumed under the University of Rajshahi. Since then the department ran its courses smoothly till 1992 when the college got affiliated to National University, Gazipur. Under National University Masters Final and Master Previous courses were included. The Department has been running with its royal heritage as per the rules and regulations of National University. Every year the students of the department get admitted in Honours class, Masters Previous class and Masters Final Year Class. The department has a Journal named The Finer Breath. Furthermore, on special occasions like Victory Day, Independence Day and Mother Language Day, the Department brings out Wall Magazine highlighting the occasions. Every year the students of the department go out on excursion. Besides, it arranges different cultural ceremonies and seminars. May students of the Department are holding different prestigious positions at different levels of the society. The department is undoubtedly a pride in the college.
